Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override has arrived, bringing Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Tetris and Pac-Man into Battle Royale — with even more gaming icons joining later in the season.
The new season is built around breaking Fortnite’s usual rules. Players can activate server-wide effects through Override Consoles, enter Cheat Codes during matches and collect Power-Ups scattered across the Island.
However, it is the frankly enormous collection of gaming crossovers that will grab most of the attention. Sonic the Hedgehog headlines the Override Battle Pass as part of Sega’s continued celebrations for the Blue Blur’s 35th anniversary.
Sonic races into Fortnite with Power Sneakers and a Tails Sprite
Sonic Power Sneakers allow players to tear around Green Hill Zone using the character’s trademark Spin Dash or launch themselves into an airborne Spin Attack.
The Tails Sprite, meanwhile, grants players the ability to hover through the air. Tails will also be available as a Sidekick through the Battle Pass.
Sonic, Knuckles and Shadow will appear as Android versions of the characters, presumably sidestepping the potentially unsettling sight of a regular-sized Sonic wielding an assault rifle. Tails and Dr. Eggman retain their classic appearances.
“Sonic has always been about speed, excitement, and bringing people together, and we can think of no better partner than Epic Games to extend that legacy,” said Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Creative Officer at Sega of America.
“From Sonic’s signature spin dash to the unmistakable setting of Green Hill Zone, we worked closely with Epic to bring the speed, movement, and energy of the franchise into Fortnite in an authentic way. Sonic, Knuckles, and Shadow will each make their debut as Android versions in Fortnite, while Tails and Dr. Eggman will appear as their classic, non-Android selves. We hope fans enjoy all the new gameplay possibilities Sonic and crew are bringing to Fortnite this season.”
Mega Man, Tetris and Pac-Man join the fight
Sonic is only the beginning. Mega Man’s legendary Mega Buster is now available as an arm cannon capable of powering up and blasting opponents.
Players can also deploy a Tetris Rift to create instant cover from the familiar falling blocks. Pac-Man Island has been added as another crossover location, bringing the maze-running arcade icon into Fortnite’s increasingly crowded gaming multiverse.
Override’s new Cheat Codes and Power-Ups go beyond crossover weapons. Override Consoles appear during every match and allow the first player to reach them to alter the rules for the entire server. The player responsible will have their name displayed around the console so everybody knows who caused the chaos.
Rare Squad Overrides only benefit the squad that activates them, although doing so broadcasts the team’s location across the map. Epic is clearly not handing out game-breaking advantages without also painting a large target on the players using them.
The season also introduces Midas’ Masterpiece, a pistol capable of eliminating opponents with a single headshot.
Sprites return with a new generation of creatures to collect. Sprite Dust can be spent on Loot Hacks, allowing players to customise chest drops and add bonus items that are otherwise unavailable in Battle Royale.
Kingdom Hearts, Persona 5 and Crash Bandicoot are coming later
Epic has already revealed several additional collaborations planned for later in the season.
The Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts will become available as a weapon, while Rebecca’s Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners provide players with a dual-wielded assault rifle and SMG combination.
Future Item Shop releases will include content from Persona 5 Royal, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, 99 Nights in the Forest and more. Pac-Man and Mega Man cosmetics are also planned alongside their gameplay appearances.
Sonic headlines the Override Battle Pass, which also features the Tails Sidekick and a selection of original Fortnite Outfits. Players who obtain the pass before August 27 at 11:59pm ET will receive the Infiltrator Grace Crowne Outfit and accessories as a launch-week bonus.
Gifting the pass to another player during the season will unlock the Peril Peak Mali Outfit and accessories for both players.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
